Discriminating Data & ‘The’ Museum
Monday, September 26
16.30 – 18.30 CET (Amsterdam) | 10:30 am – 12:30 pm NYC | 7:30 am – 9:30 British Columbia
On the occasion of Wendy Hui Kyong Chun’s new book Discriminating Data, we invite Evelyn Wan, Alexander R. Galloway, Hannah Turner, moderated by Wayne Modest to think about how the museum’s historical organization of data also creates segregating processes, where “polarization is a goal” despite the discourses of openness that ‘the’ digital purports. Do museums continue to polarize as an eschewed objective, even if they put forward a discourse of inclusivity and/or hybridity?
