Welcome to a webinar on Antimicrobial Resistance: Turning Plans into Action
Wednesday September 8th at 14-15 pm (CEST GMT+2)
The webinar is the launch-event for the Uppsala Health Summit 2021 Post-Conference Report on Managing Antimicrobial Resistance through Behaviour Change.
Antibiotic resistance is serious but silent challenge that requires an "all hands on deck" approach, through global commitments and national, multi-sectoral action plans – including behavioural change. How do we move from words to action and implement sustainable solutions?
In March 2021, the Uppsala Health Summit "Managing Antimicrobial Resistance through Behaviour Change," gathered over 600 participants from research and policy institutions, industry and civil society. The participants, from 72 countries, discussed how to limit the development and emergence of antimicrobial resistance through approaches in behavioral science mechanisms. During the summit’s digital and interactive workshops and plenary sessions, veterinary and human medicine perspectives met with views from social sciences. The dialogue centered on the prevention of infections, to reduce the need for antimicrobials on the one hand, and restrictive and responsible use of antimicrobials based on strict medical rationales, on the other.
