The briefing is sponsored by Maternal Mental Health Liaison Group, 2020 Mom, and Shades of Blue Project. The briefing is co-hosted by March of Dimes, Mental Health of America and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, in coordination with the Black Maternal Health Caucus.
This briefing will educate Congressional staff on the rise and impact of maternal mental health conditions and approaches to reduce prevalence and mortality through interlocking solutions at every level. This will include a discussion of governmental task force strategy and coordination, training and support for maternal health providers, and community-based care and support.
The briefing will promote three legislative bills on maternal mental health: the TRIUMPH for New Moms Act, the Into the Light for Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder, and Moms Matter Act that staffers should take into consideration when developing mental health policy this upcoming summer.
