Unmute Yourself: Peace Now on the Korea Peninsula!

We’re thrilled to invite you to meet three changemakers who inspire and mobilize others to be effective advocates and activists for a more just and peaceful world – for North and South Korea - and beyond.

Join us for a conversation hosted by Ploughshares President Emma Belcher, with guests Christine Ahn, Abigail Disney, and Deann Borshay Liem, who were part of the group of 30 women from 15 countries on a women’s peace walk with 10,000 Korean women, and a historic crossing of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) from North to South Korea. The women had three ambitious goals: replace the armistice with a peace treaty; reunite Korean families; and elevate women’s leadership in the peace process.

Special Treat: You’ll get a sneak peak into the 2022 documentary film, Crossing, that is making the rounds in the film festival circuit.

During this one-hour event you’ll get the latest updates on current North/South Korea relations, and this week’s revived nuclear brinkmanship with North Korea’s March 24th test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) – the first test of a long-range missile since 2017, the increasing tensions between the U.S. and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, what we might expect from the newly elected President Yoon Suk-yeol, and the impact of the Ukraine/Russia conflict.

Women and mothers have been protesting, advocating, and leading local and global peace and nuclear disarmament efforts for decades, in so many ways, across the globe.
