The Kick-off event is a regional event that seeks to showcase the justice innovators who have been shortlisted for the 2021 HiiL Justice Accelerator. The event which will be done virtually, serves as a pitch event for the justice innovators shortlisted from the region as they get a chance to pitch their innovations to a regional audience consisting of government officials, justice actors and justice enthusiasts.
The event will aim to provide a platform for the shortlisted justice innovators to showcase their innovations in front of a regional audience as well as to bring together justice actors from different justice sectors in the region to learn about the new innovations and to share their perspectives on the effectiveness of the innovations.
The virtual event will run for 1 and a half hours and will encompass:
1) A presentation on HiiL’s work in justice innovation in East Africa by Mwangi Kariuki, the Head of the HiiL Innovation Hub East Africa.
2) 2 rounds of pitching by 5 shortlisted justice innovators from the East African region.
3) An engaging panel discussion on Creating an Enabling Environment for Justice Innovation to Thrive with Samira Saidi from Fount, Esther Mwikali from ASSEK and Rodgers Kidiya from Tax Justice Network Africa.
