Chemical Exposure and Susceptible Populations
NICEATM is organizing a virtual symposium titled “Using New Approach Methodologies to Address Variability and Susceptibility Across Populations” to be held October 26-27, 2022. The symposium aims to identify and understand opportunities for NAMs to provide relevant information on population variability and susceptibility to environmental chemicals; and identify information needs for population variability and susceptibility where NAMs could be designed or improved to fill that need. In advance of the workshop, a webinar series is being convened to highlight NAMs that incorporate variability and susceptibility into the evaluation of chemical safety. The final installment to conclude this series will be held on October 7 and will feature two presentations about NAMs and data science approaches towards investigating population variability and susceptibility due to environmental exposures. The first speaker, Dr. Shaun McCullough, Principal Investigator, EPA Center for Public Health and Environmental Assessment, will discuss on the impacts of inter-individual variability using in vitro models evaluation. The second speaker, Dr. Chirag Patel, Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics, Harvard University, will focus on Data science approaches to discover the determinants of health.
