CJA Panel Training: Supreme Court Update

Description

During its last term, the Supreme Court and the Fifth Circuit issued many decisions that affect the federal criminal defense practice. This seminar will provide an update on the relevant cases and how they matter for attorneys defending criminal cases in federal court.

The State Bar of Texas MCLE Department has approved this seminar for 1.0 hrs. of CLE credit (Course No. 174163245). There is no cost for participants or for those attorneys wishing to apply for the CLE credit. If you have any questions, contact Dora Madrigal at Dora_Madrigal@fd.org.

Herman (First Assistant Federal Public Defender @Southern District of Texas) MICHAEL L. HERMAN is the First Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Texas. The Federal Public Defender is responsible for representing indigent defendants, upon appointment by the court, in criminal cases in the district courts and through appeal in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and in the Supreme Court. As the First Assistant, Mr. Herman is the deputy to the chief Federal Public Defender, Marjorie Meyers. Mr. Herman has served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender since September 2001. He has held positions in the trial litigation group, in the appellate practice section, as a representative delegated to the Senate Judiciary Committee staff, and in various management positions in the Federal Public Defender’s office.
