In this session we will look at where a person came from, the country of birth, general area or town/village. They “emigrate from” or leave the home country and “immigrate” come to Canada or other country. We will look at the home country’s emigration documents, home country census records, church documents, ship’s passenger lists. Finally, we will look for Canadian census, naturalization records, citizenship records and military records to determine where the immigrant moved and or settled and the corresponding dates.
