The Egyptian Ministry of Finance announced the launch of the pilot project of its new e-receipt system for business to consumer (B2C) transactions in Egypt on April 15, 2022.
The objective of the e-receipt system is to integrate the informal sector into the formal economy and enhance the state’s ability to collect taxes and achieve tax justice. The project complements the Government of Egypt’s efforts to digitalize and automate the tax collection process.
The next session of the LYNX Forum will feature a discussion on the operational aspects of the new e-receipt system and the latter’s implications on the private sector. The discussion will also highlight lessons learned from the project’s pilot phase and global best practices from experienced industry players. They include representatives of Jumia, Yoco, the World Bank Group among others.
