Culture can be hard to describe but at its heart it represents the behaviours that are encouraged and rewarded, which shape the unique sense of the way things are done and in turn define what it ‘feels like’ to work there. Culture expresses what is valued in an organisation and understanding its ethical components is key in driving the desired behaviours and outcomes.
If an organisation's ethical culture is important to people, it is also hard to assess. It is often difficult for outsiders to get an objective view of what it feels like to be on the inside.
