Mr. Rubenstein has invested in dozens of companies directly both professionally and on behalf of himself and his family’s alternative investment strategy. Mr. Rubenstein has also invested thematically over the past decade in >30 VC funds and nearly as many real estate projects. As Managing Partner of New Climate Ventures, current investment focus is on carbon reduction and avoidance which includes but is not limited to climate tech, the circular economy, and food/ag tech. Stafford Sheehan PhD '15 (Co-Founder & CTO @Air Company) Dr. Stafford Sheehan is a scientist, inventor and award-winning electrochemist and carbon dioxide conversion specialist with more than 37 academic publications, 10 patents and a number of technical awards. He received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Yale in 2016, where he won the university’s highest achievement award for a chemistry thesis and founded two successful companies in software and chemistry. His achievements landed him on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Energy in 2016. He is the CTO of Air Company, where he has created a proprietary and patented technology system that converts captured carbon dioxide into high-purity alcohols. As CTO, Dr. Sheehan is responsible for overseeing all technological operations while working to continue to push the boundaries and scale of his technology. Sheehan’s technology is demonstrating its ability to be applied across a number of verticals, with applications involving glucose and fuel production, and he plans to take it to outer space. Dr. Bradley Brennan (Vice President of Research & Development @Dimensional Energy) Dr. Bradley J. Brennan is vice-president of R&D at Dimensional Energy, a cleantech startup enabling a sustainable and carbon-neutral future for the chemicals and fuels industries by utilizing carbon dioxide and water as feedstocks. The company spun-out from Cornell University, and is building a demonstration system for CO2-to-Fuels at its site in Arizona. This will be operational in 2022 and result in a ASTM-certified jetfuel. He obtained his doctoral degree in chemistry at Arizona State University with subsequent training at Yale and Caltech. Throughout his academic career he focused on fundamental and applied research for solar energy, CO2 utilization, sustainability, and a host of other areas. While at Yale, he was the first post-doctoral scholar hired at the Energy Sciences Institute, and initiated projects and the lab build-out for its Solar Energy collaborative research group that included multiple professors from the Department of Chemistry. Gautam Barua '93 (Founder @Aclaria Partners, Inc.) Gautam Barua is an ESG investor whose successful track record stems from a distinctive combination of subject matter expertise and top-tier business and finance experience. He started out by contributing to Yale Professor William Nordhaus’s Nobel Prize-winning work on climate change in the 1990s. Since then, Gautam has led $80M of profitable clean water and energy deals, helped spark a $1.5B cleantech investment program at CalPERS, founded a leading clean energy firm, and advised major corporations on sustainability. He's held M&A, advisory, and new business roles at McKinsey and Morgan Stanley, as well as executive roles in Silicon Valley. Gautam earned a BA cum laude in Economics and Mathematics at Yale and an MBA with Distinction at Harvard. Wendy Maldonado D'Amico '93 (Director @Accelerate Yale & Yale Angels) Wendy Maldonado D'Amico is a freelance consultant with expertise in marketing, communications, events, and community building. Her experience spans both the private and non-profit sector, and she has worked in fields as diverse as management consulting, technology, investment banking, consumer products, economic development, and higher education. Clients have included Listen4Good, 1863 Ventures, the Yale Alumni Association, the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale, The Boston Consulting Group, SAP, MBI Inc., and the Brazelton Touchpoints Center at Boston Children's Hospital. She serves as an Executive Officer of the YAA Board of Governors and as Director of Accelerate Yale & Yale Angels. She holds a B.A. in English Literature from Yale, an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School, and an MBA from MIT Sloan.
