Sparking an Ambition Loop - UN Water Conference 2023 Side Event

Side event for the 2023 UN Water Conference

Thousands of large companies are disclosing via CDP that the current state of water insecurity is untenable and resulting in significant risks and impacts on their businesses. Many are leading the way by setting bold ambitions to reduce their dependency on high consumption of freshwater resources and designing-out polluting substances from products and processes, often inspired by the disclosure process. These politically powerful and influential voices have the potential to push governments to accelerate the pace and scale of innovation and investments in water solutions. To succeed, a positive feedback loop—an “ambition loop”—between bold business leadership and bold government policies focused on disclosure must be established.

The event will support the aims of the Conference by showcasing ambitious non-state actors’ near- and long-term actions, and demonstrating how they can contribute to a water-secure future within the planetary boundaries that serves both people and planet.

The event will consist of a 75 minute webinar, dividend into two parts, to showcasing research and action and spelling out regulatory approaches needed for unlocking the potential of the private sector (corporates and financial institutions) for a water secure world.
