Advanced Sensing, Analytics, and Feed-back Quality Control in Metal Additive Manufacturing
Metal Additive Manufacturing enables complex geometry part fabrication. However, it still suffers from defects such as lack of fusion and over-melting. This webinar presents the author's novel contributions to multi-physical melt pool fundamental study (process signature and quality correlation), advanced sensor development (ultra-high spatial resolution 3D scanner), and real-time closed-loop process parameter control on a multi-sensing and open-source laser powder bed fusion testbed. The high spatial resolution 3D scanning results demonstrate that the geometrical error can be vastly reduced by implementing adaptive laser power during the printing.
