Let's Create Some Happiness: The biology and psychology of happiness and how to intentionally create it
Much is made over the origins and treatment of emotional disturbances, including depression, anger, and anxiety. The goal that many clients come into therapy with is “I just want to feel happy again.” We know how to treat the problem emotions. Do we know how to create happiness? Finally research has been done on the biology and psychology of happiness, and how to intentionally pursue it. This workshop is for professionals who want to learn this for themselves and then teach it to their clients. It will present a viable alternative to simply reducing problematic emotions by using skills to replace them.

Learning Objectives

How to assess a client’s history of happiness vs. other emotions

Understand the biology of happiness

Learn skills for reducing negative emotions by replacing them with positive ones

How to assess a client’s “willingness” to feel happy

Learn the power of goals in creating happiness

How to develop a Life Plan that can help a person shape their future intentionally while building a pattern of happiness experiences along the way
