The art of promoting books on social media: The publisher’s perspective

There's no denying that social media has transformed publishing since the early days of MySpace and Tumblr. #BookTok alone has over 71 billion views! Social media has very real influence over how people spend their money, what books they read, where they shop, and more. In this session, we’ll give the mic to social media experts from five Canadian publishing houses who will share their insights into what goes on behind the scenes — how they plan their content, what platforms they prefer, their tips and tricks for efficiency, and so much more. After all, when 10% of books purchased in Canada are discovered through social media (according to BookNet’s Book Consumer Survey 2022), mastering it is not just a matter of dollars, but good sense.
