What Experts Are Saying About E-bike Battery Safety; Bring Them Your Questions!
Headlines out of New York City are inspiring fear in property managers and consumers alike when it comes to electric bicycle batteries: After reports of lithium ion batteries used to power electric bikes spontaneously catching fire, many apartment buildings in NYC decided to ban e-bikes entirely – an overreaction that negatively impacts residents’ ability to get around.

To help clarify the issue and provide guidance to facilities managers, developers, or anyone who is rethinking policies and practices around e-bikes, Bikes Make Life Better convened the experts. Please join us for an extended Online Bike Forum dedicated to understanding e-bike battery safety issues and where to go from here.

Meet the panelists:

Dr. Ash Lovell is the Electric Bicycle Policy and Campaign Director for PeopleForBikes where she leads initiatives that include the e-bike safety task force; the e-bike battery recycling program; and engagements with regulatory agencies.

Mike Fritz has spent his entire professional career as an engineer and engineering manager in the bicycle industry, and has held engineering and senior management positions at several major bike and eBike brands. For the last 10 years he has offered his experience and expertise as a technical consultant to the bicycle industry.

Scott Chapin is a business insurance advisor with Marsh McLennan Agency. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the industry and has built insurance programs for both bike shops and manufacturers.

We’re extending this Online Bike Forum by 15 minutes to accommodate the Q&A, so be sure to bring your questions!
