Healthier Homes with Jen and Rusty Stout
Join the conversation with Jen and Rusty Stout of JS2 Partners Healthy Home Builder based in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. JS2 Partners design, build, and furnish homes with all non-toxic, chemical free materials and methods, an idea that started when Jen was diagnosed with health challenges. Jen and Rusty released their first book Healthier Homes in the fall of 2022, and launched an online retail store selling their own line of paints, furnishings, and decor. The launch of her new business syncs with Fire’s appointment to the board of directors of two key industry organizations: Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) and the Bienenstock Furniture Library research facility. She is a certified GREEN AP. Nancy lives in New York City and East Quogue, NY, and keeps her finger on the pulse of global trends through her design company.
Jen Stout

Jen Stout holds a BA in journalism from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. When she discovered that her chronic health issues were the result of toxic black mold, she set out to build one of the first truly healthy homes using mainstream modern-day building materials. She was the executive director of the Hill Country Builders Association in central Texas when she met Rusty, and together they founded JS2 Partners. Since then, they have become nationally recognized leaders in healthy home building and home design.
Rusty Stout
Owner @JS2 Partners Healthy Home Builders
Rusty Stout brings twenty-plus years of home building experience to JS2 Partners. He was president of the Hill Country Builders Association’s board of directors and is a member of the Texas Association of Builders and the National Association of Home Builders. He serves as a building trades education mentor for high school students and is an authorized OSHA trainer and NASP Safety Inspections Technician. He also holds a Project Management Professional designation from Park University and is a licensed Realtor® in the state of Texas. Jen and Rusty released Healthier Homes, their first book in the fall of 2022. The couple also debuted their new retail site, HealthierHomes.com, featuring natural furnishings, organic décor and their line of Healthier Paints.
