Sketchbooks are a great way to gather reference for botanical illustration. Lizzie explains how and why she personally keeps botanical sketchbooks and the commercial use of some of her illustrations as a result. Watch her working on a sketch of a violet plant (sped up) whilst she explains the processes involved. Then, focusing on a couple of sketchbook studies in close detail, Lizzie will explain exactly what information she likes to include and why all of these elements are important.
