Do you want to increase ridership at no cost? Do want to the reduce stress on your scheduling/ dispatching staff? Do you want your fixed route and on-demand services to be published on trip planners? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this training is for you!
National RTAP is offering a free targeted, hands-on training to help you publish your services online. General Transit Feed Specifications (GTFS) is the international standard used to digitize and publish trip plan data (bus stop locations and schedules). This training walks you through National RTAP’s free GTFS Builder application, a simple tool, used in the development of GTFS data. With GTFS Builder, your transit services can be published on trip planners such as Google Maps, Bing, Apple Maps, Moovit, CityMapper, and others. You will also learn how to get your on-demand service published on one or more of these planners. The training is available to all, so please feel free to forward this invitation to your team or staff. However, this session will be limited to 40, so register early!
The training will consist of three 1-hour sessions held on May 19, May 26, and June 9 at 1:00 PM ET. The third session will be optional, with the instructor available for questions and extra help. If time permits, more advanced training will also be covered including how to display the path of a bus route on a map. At the end of the training, you can expect to complete GTFS data for one bus route, and most importantly, have the ability to create GTFS data for other routes.
In advance of the training, you will need to have the Microsoft version of Excel and Google Earth Desktop version loaded on your PC. You may also need permission to run macros from your IT department. Upon registering, we will send you GTFS Builder which will need to be downloaded onto your computer. Prior to the first training, we will reach out to you to ensure that you have all the tools in place and are ready to go!
