Introduction to Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI): Two Part Training On Therapeutic Approaches to Intervention for Individuals with Autism and Related Conditions

Part I: Overview of the Developmental Approach- Family Voices of MN and MN Department of Human Services will collaborate to present an introductory training that provides an overview of the developmental approach to treatment for individuals with a diagnosis of autism and other related conditions. The training will be presented by the following Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI) providers, St David’s Center, Dynamic Connections and Empowering Kids. Through developmental approaches, providers evaluate a person’s developmental skills, sensory profiles, interests, and strengths to build a relationship and create a shared world of engagement and learning together. This training will cover the basics of a developmental approach, along with general information on two specific developmental-based therapies:
• DIR/ Floortime
• Relationship Development Intervention (RDI).

• Family or caregivers of children, youth and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related conditions
• Early childhood professionals and childcare providers
• Teachers, para-professionals and other educators
• Occupational, speech and language and physical therapists
• EIDBI providers and other professionals
• Case managers or other support professionals
• Advocates and self-advocates
• Other interested stakeholders
