2021 Ikeda Forum | Becoming Wide Awake to Our Wisdom, Courage, and Compassion: Global Citizenship as Action and Identity
As we close out 2021, it's clear that the challenges of COVID-19, climate change, war and violence, discrimination, and much more, are ever more present. How can we approach the future with a hope-filled vision? What action can we take in the present moment? Center founder Daisaku Ikeda states that "the challenge of constructing a global society of peace and creative coexistence begins with the recognition that all people inherently possess" the qualities of “wisdom, courage, and compassion.” When we awaken to and cultivate these three qualities in our lives, we are able to recognize our identity as global citizens. In Ikeda's words, global citizens are "genuinely concerned for the peace and prosperity of the world," regardless of how many languages they speak or the number of countries they have traveled to.

This year's forum will feature a presentation by Dr. Awad Ibrahim, followed by an intergenerational panel discussion with Dr. Ibrahim, Dr. Jason Goulah, and emerging scholars Meylin Gonzales, Seonmi Jin, Archish Mittal, and Handrio Nurhan. We hope you will join us as we explore how each of us can invoke these qualities of wisdom, courage, and compassion in our own lives. RSVP today!
