Four Score Speaker Series: Dr. Mark Pohlad - PART TWO
Description
Join the Lincoln Presidential Foundation on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 7 p.m. CT for PART TWO of an engaging program led by Prof. Pohlad as he takes us through a visual slideshow examining several of the artworks and photographs made of the Sixteenth President, how they influenced Lincoln's career, and how they continue to shape historical memory of him today.
Mark B. Pohlad, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Art History at DePaul University, in Chicago. There he teaches American Art, the History of Photography, and classes on various Chicago topics. In 2017 he published a book on Ohio artist James R. Hopkins: Faces of the Heartland (Ohio State University Press). Prof. Pohlad regularly contributes to The Journal of the Abraham Lincoln Association, Illinois Heritage, and Lincoln Lore on the visual culture of Abraham Lincoln. Indeed, he has lectured widely on Lincoln in art and in photography, at conferences, for C-SPAN, and in dozens of lectures across Illinois as a “Road Scholar.” He is currently at work on a book for Southern Illinois University Press on Chicago’s relationship to Abraham Lincoln.
