Textures: The History and Art of Black Hair
Join us for a conversation with Dr. Tameka Ellington and Dr. Joseph Underwood, co-curators of Textures: The History and Art of Black Hair, an exhibition at Kent State University in Kent, OH.

Moderated by Dr. Jacqueline Hudson, Exhibitions Content Developer at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, this discussion will examine how Black hair has evolved throughout our history. Ellington and Underwood will present their research in contemporary art, visual culture and material culture that explores how the stories of peoples of African descent are expressed through their hair. There will also be a live demonstration and commentary by Keva Davis, a local hair stylist in based in Cincinnati.
