Entrepreneurship at Yale Today: A Fireside Chat with Jorge Torres, Tsai CITY
In honor of Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month, join Accelerate Yale for a fireside chat with Jorge Torres '96, Interim Managing Director of the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale. His teaching and coaching focus on new venture creation, entrepreneurship, and venture capital.

He will share his unusual path from a STEM major to tech and venture capital, and the reasons for his unconventional choices. He will explore the change in attitude towards entrepreneurship on the Yale campus over time, and share ideas on how we can foster and support innovation in the Yale community.

Wendy Maldonado D'Amico '93, Director of Accelerate Yale and Yale Angels, will moderate the conversation.

Jorge Torres '96
Interim Managing Director @Tsai CITY
Jorge serves as Interim Managing Director of Tsai CITY and previously served as the Dean of Pierson College from 2020-2022. Prior to working in higher education, Jorge served as an original member of the investment team at Silas Capital. Through his affiliation with Kauffman Fellows, he is also a limited partner in Truebridge Capital Partners, a venture capital fund-of-funds. Jorge serves as a Chairman of the Board of Directors of HBCUvc. He also mentors entrepreneurs through his affiliations with Techstars, Founder Institute, and Endeavor. Jorge was engaged in the full-time practice of intellectual property law for a decade prior to venture capital. He received a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry from Yale and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He also completed the Kauffman Fellows Program while at Silas Capital. Jorge was born in the Bronx, raised in Queens, and has roots in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
