FEFLOW – How to get started with groundwater model prediction uncertainty

Join the four session of our new monthly webinar series! These FEFLOW-related webinars focus on recurring training for groundwater modellers, geologists and hydrogeologists around the world and will take place on the third Thursday of every month. We will cover a variety of groundwater modelling topics relevant to any audience. Each session consists of 45 minutes of interactive hands-on exercises and 15 minutes of group discussion (Q/A).
In our May instalment, you will learn about several basic concepts of model calibration and uncertainty analysis using PEST and PEST++ (PESTPP) suites with FEFLOW.
By the end of the webinar, you’ll have a general understanding of how to:
- Utilise basic concepts for getting started with FEFLOW and PEST / PESTPP suites
- Set up your first project in FePEST
- Quantify the model prediction uncertainty by means of Iterative Ensemble Smoothing techniques (PESTPP-IES)
- Best practices for model result analysis
This webinar requires certain knowledge of FEFLOW and its graphical interface. Dr. Carlos Rivera Villarreyes is a Global Product Specialist and Product Owner for FEFLOW. Dr. Rivera has profound knowledge of groundwater and unsaturated zone modelling as well as parameter estimation and uncertainty analysis (e.g., with PEST), all these in the context of mining, geothermal, water resources, water quality applications, among others. He has carried several groundwater modelling projects and trained professionals in groundwater modelling around the globe.
