Rediscover Joy Through Dance
It's time to look at dance in a whole new way and remove the stigma that dance is only for dancers. Dance invites us into joy! In this dance class designed for anyone living with movement It’s time to look at dance in a whole new way and remove the stigma that dance is only for dancers. Dance invites us into joy! In this informational webinar, you will learn about the multitude of benefits of dancing for someone living with Parkinson’s disease.

The program is based on the internationally-acclaimed, research-backed Dance for PD program. Classes allow participants to experience the grace, fluidity, music, community, and joy that dancing brings. The movements are designed to address common symptoms such as balance, tremors, stiffness, and slowness. Dance is also an effective way to activate and improve brain activity! Studies show that participation in a weekly class based on the Dance for PD methodology effectively slowed both motor and non-motor Parkinson’s symptoms over a period of three years.

This is what Empowered By Movement dancers have to say:

“Over the course of my life, I have come to believe more in myself; this thing called confidence & more specifically self-confidence, is not a bad thing to have in one’s set of life skills. Previously I was pretty much of a doormat. You, my friend, are very good at invoking joy, but even better at teaching the concept of self-care. ” – Sue

“NADM (Never a dull moment) with Lisa! She leads us in creative dance steps which look very much like regular exercise steps. Don’t let the word DANCE scare you from participating. Have fun!” – Gary

“Lisa is excellent at teaching us many moves and realizes that with the many different movement disorders and the severity of those disorders, she will always tell us to modify our moves to what we can handle. There is no right or wrong, it’s what we can adjust to.” – Bruce
