Elizabeth Szatkowski

Social Services Manager @Hospice of Southern Maine

Elizabeth Szatkowski is the Social Services Manager at HSM and supervisors the Chaplains and Social Workers. She has a BA in Psychology from Williams College and an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a licensed clinical social worker and has a Denominational Endorsement from the Society of Friends. Her work has encompassed integrated care, end of life, behavioral health, poverty, homelessness, addiction and trauma. Her practice of mindfulness has been deepened by her study of yoga, capoeira and t’ai chi. The Portland Friends Meeting has been her spiritual home since she moved back to Maine in 1992. Elizabeth teaches periodically at the School of Social Work at the University of Southern Maine and has been a long-time member of the Community Advisory Council. She has volunteered at organizations in England, Kenya and Nicaragua focusing on issues related to poverty, access to healthcare, public education and food insecurity.

Marjorie Schoonover RN, BSN, CHPN

Clinical Nurse Manager @Hospice of Southern Maine

Marjorie has twenty years of experience in Hospice and Palliative care and worked in critical care and epidemiology prior to that.  Her work settings have included inpatient, nursing home and home care. Marjorie is passionate about end-of-life care and recognizes that each person has a unique set of life experiences and needs at end of life.  She believes that it is important for health care providers to be thoughtful and attentive to individual wishes for end-of-life care. Marjorie says that it is her honor and privilege to work as a member of HSM Team.
