Fulfilling the Promise of the CHRONIC Care Act: The Future of New Supplemental Benefits in Medicare Advantage

Join LTQA and ATI Advisory, with support from The SCAN Foundation, for a virtual briefing, “Fulfilling the Promise of the CHRONIC Care Act: The Future of New Supplemental Benefits in Medicare Advantage,” on Tuesday, May 17, from 2-3:30 pm ET. Featuring remarks from Dr. Meena Seshamani and Senator Mark Warner, this briefing will mark the launch of our latest policy recommendations and serve as an important public gathering of influential stakeholders from across the LTSS spectrum to discuss the future of these benefits.

Signed into law in 2018, the CHRONIC Care Act updated fundamental principles of the Medicare program, notably allowing coverage of non-primarily health related benefits and significant flexibility to meet individual needs of MA beneficiaries.

Since 2018, LTQA and ATI Advisory have been at the forefront of thought leadership and research on new, non-medical supplemental benefits in MA. Building on this extensive body of work, LTQA and ATI Advisory developed policy recommendations for Congress.

In 2022, we see offerings of non-medical supplemental benefits in MA increasing across the country, with plans becoming better equipped to design and implement these benefits. As these benefits become more widely available, now is an important time to reflect on whether we are meeting the promise of the CHRONIC Care Act and how we can continue to strengthen and modernize Medicare.
