There is a lot on the line in 2023 as the Washington State Legislature heads into a long legislative session where they will be creating a new two-year budget for Washington, responding to climate and environmental challenges, and tackling other issues related to housing, homelessness, and the ongoing mental health crisis.
This is an especially important time for frontline communities. We will need your help to ensure that people on the frontlines are heard in Olympia in 2023!
At this briefing, we’ll highlight our priorities for the 2023 legislative session:
DATE/TIME: Thursday, Jan. 5, 12:30 to 1:30pm
LOCATION: Free, on Zoom—register here!
SPEAKERS: Guillermo Rogel, Jr., Legislative Advocate; Rosalinda Guillen, Community Councilmember; Paulo Nunes-Ueno, Transportation and Land Use Policy Lead; Mariel Thuraisingham, Clean Energy Policy Lead; and Sierra Suafoa-McClain, Program Engagement Lead
We will introduce new ideas when it comes to transportation justice, energy access, and participatory democracy to reduce the health disparities in our communities. Through our agenda, we are making sure the legislature follows through on its commitments and obligations to environmental justice and frontline communities.
