Bill Carey will present a detailed power point about the integration of Clinton High School that includes more than 50 newspaper articles about the event in 1956 and 1957. Bobby Cain, who was famously in the middle of the integration, will join Carey as a co-host and will talk about how it feels to see many of these articles for the first time. After all, as an 18-year-old high school senior, Mr. Cain never saw most of the articles about him that appeared in newspapers across the country. And although he has been praised during the last 15 years for the role he played in integrating public schools in the South, Cain had a miserable senior year--ordered to switch schools, isolated from his friends, and unable to play high school sports.
NOTE: Teachers are the target audience for this event, but everyone is invited to register. It will begin at 3:45 CENTRAL time, and the host will sign on 15 minutes early.
