Just Not That Likable Author Gloria Romero
Please join us for a conversation with "Just Not That Likable" author Gloria Romero, the first woman to become the California State Majority Leader in the Sacramento legislature and a co-founder of Scholarship Prep charter schools. One of six children raised in the high desert town of Barstow, her father worked for the railroad and her mother left school after sixth grade.

Her book's subtitle, "The Price All Women Pay for Gender Bias" alludes to her deep experiences with the double-bind phenomenon in which women executives and leaders are expected to show strength and leadership, and are then often judged as too masculine or abrasive. She argues that unlike men, women in the workplace are still quietly deemed unlikable for having equal or superior knowledge, skills and confidence.

Romero writes "Just Not That Likable recognizes that our workplaces must promote practices, policies and culture which confront and disassemble this double bind for women."
