Improving Broadband Internet Connectivity in Cities and LGUs
Secondary cities are fast becoming smart cities, digitizing public services and setting standards for data storage, protection, and utilization. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic compelled cities to embrace ICT approaches to mitigate adverse impacts and adapt to the new normal. However, affordable, inclusive, and secure internet connectivity remains challenging in these cities, hampering local growth and development.

In line with this, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Better Access and Connectivity (BEACON) Activity and Cities for Enhanced Governance and Engagement (CHANGE) Project is organizing this one-day forum.

Local chief executives from the USAID Cities Development Initiative partner cities, government officials, industry players, and civil society advocates will discuss connectivity issues at the city level and share potential solutions on ICT governance, financing, and investment to improve broadband access and quality of service in local areas.
