The City of Ithaca, NY has announced an ambitious plan to electrify 6,000 existing residential and commercial buildings by 2030. Part of the City’s Green New Deal, Ithaca is partnering with two unique firms – RTC sponsor Alturus and BlocPower – to fund the entire effort.

Join Luis Aguirre-Torres, Director of Sustainability for the City of Ithaca, and Charlie Daum, Managing Director, Alturus, to learn how they’ve structured a replicable model to deploy energy efficiency, generation and other projects across a large portfolio of aging commercial buildings, while quickly accessing significant capital that will support rapid engagement and deployment.

He is also co-chair of the NY State Climate Impact Assessment, Society and Economy Technical Working Group. Prior to joining the City of Ithaca, he was the President and CEO of GreenMomentum, a think tank organization specialized in climate change legislation, as well as renewable energy deployment and financing. In 2012 and 2016 he was recognized by the White House for his work promoting climate justice in Latin America. Charlie Daum (Managing Director @Alturus) Charlie has an extensive career in clean energy, power markets and energy finance. He has been involved in many areas of the energy business specializing in all aspects of project development, M&A, power markets and origination. Prior to Alturus, Charlie was a founding member of Geronimo Energy and most recently served as Managing Director at Altenex where he worked closely with Fortune 500 clients to deliver innovative and effective clean energy solutions to meet their unique needs. Lynn A. Kirshbaum (Project and Research Director @David Gardiner and Associates (DGA)) Lynn A. Kirshbaum has a background in energy and environmental policy and years of experience working with state lawmakers, government agencies, and industry professionals. As the Project and Research Director at DGA, Lynn manages numerous renewable energy and energy efficiency projects and produces research materials and reports. Lynn leads much of the Renewable Thermal Collaborative’s (RTC’s) policy work as well as the RTC’s Electrification Working Group. She also serves as the Deputy Director of the Combined Heat and Power Alliance, leading the Alliance’s policy work at the state level and engaging with regional and state partners.
