Environmental Law as a Vehicle for Protection from Secondhand Smoke
Amos Hausner, Attorney/ tobacco control advocate, will present existing environmental laws (as well as tort law provisions) that can be utilized to prevent secondhand smoke exposure in the home, a theory about to be tested by an application to the Israeli Supreme Court. Raquel Fernández Megina, President of Nofumadores.org, will discuss how to use environmental arguments to advance in outdoor smoke-free areas. After an overview of the origins, prevalence, and consequences of thirdhand smoke residue, Dr. Georg E. Matt, Professor of Psychology in the College of Sciences at San Diego State University, will discuss policy and legal implications for the protection from secondhand and thirdhand smoke exposure.
