Travis W. Bliss, Ph.D.
Stephany G. Small, Ph.D.

As the cannabis industry continues to mature, intellectual property (IP) rights are becoming increasingly relied upon by both large and small players in the industry. This session will discuss the IP options that are available and being utilized to protect innovations in the cannabis industry. Through this discussion, we will touch on the types of cannabis innovations that can be – and are being – protected using patent rights, including formulations, treatment methods, and the plants themselves. We will also discuss some other types of IP rights that are being applied to the protection of cannabis innovations, as well as some learnings that can be taken from recent cannabis IP litigations.
