Nicole Badstuber
Associate Director @AECOM
Nicole is a transport planner and policy advisor. She currently works in Transport Planning for AECOM in Sydney. In this role she manages infrastructure design and policy. She currently leads on inclusive design, including AECOM’s research on women’s safety when travelling. She worked on cycling projects in Sydney and Canberra and has reviewed active travel work across ANZ. Prior to her current role, Nicole was Mobility Programme Director at urban policy think tank Committee for Sydney. Before moving to Australia in 2020, Nicole was an academic researcher and visiting lecturer based in London. Nicole is a recognised thought leader and expert on transport and was recently award Fellowship of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (FCIHT). Most recently, Nicole advised to UK Government’s Social Mobility Commission on the role of transport policy on upward mobility and connecting to opportunities and education.
Max McCardel
Senior Project Engineer @Safe System Solutions
Max is regularly involved in reviewing and developing innovative cycling and pedestrian focused projects across Australia. Prior to this role, Max gained international experience working in the UK as a site engineer and managing the construction of shared paths and various other bicycle facilities. Max is a keen commuter and recreational cyclist with both a professional and personal interest in exploring best practice designing's and delivering cycling infrastructure. Max has taken his passion for all things cycling and led the development of the ‘Cycling Infrastructure Training Course’ offered by Safe System Solutions aiming to sharpen Road Safety practitioner’s skills in identifying and providing solutions for cyclist safety.
